The third country we went to was Bingen in Germany! Never heard of it? Well neither had we until we got to go and visit our camp friend Michael and his sister Sonja there! It's this amazing village close to Frankfurt that has hills, forests and rivers! Getting there was a bit of an adventure, seeing as Isabel and I no zero German, but after many missed trains and wrong platforms Michael finally found us (yes found us is the correct phrase seeing as we got off at the wrong stop) and gave us a quick tour of the village. His house was so beautiful, and big compared to all of the small British houses! We were tired from our day of traveling, but not so tired as to not be able to go on a hike through the hillside! Then for dinner Michael made a German Bar-B-Que (with vegetable kebabs for me!) and some of his friends came over to watch soccer. Isabel and I didn't know much about the game, but his friends knew English and were really cool! The next day they decided to take us up the hillside to get a nice view! We had to ride a ferry to get across the river to the hillside, which was cool in itself, and then we got to ride gondolas up to the top! It was a sunny day, the gondola was so so so so fun, and we had an amazing view of the land! Then at the top we hiked along some trails to see all of the land! We saw this giant statue in honor of those who died in WWI, an old watch tour, a wizards cave, and a castle! Then, to top off this whole hiking adventure, we had a picnic in the grass! And unlike Texas grass, there were flowers that I used to make a flower crown and there were no ants! We then rode the gondola down to catch up with his friends to go play laser tag! I don't know if you have ever played laser tag with a bunch of screaming Germans trying to shoot you, but it was equally exciting and terrifying! After that we just chilled, ate leftovers from the Bar B Que and watched movies, which was a nice break to have in the middle of all of our travels! But wait... there's more! The next morning they made us a full, amazing German breakfast (can you say bread!!!!) and Isabel and I convinced Michael to take us rollerblading! But little did he know that we are TERRIBLE at rollerblading! Not that that made it any less fun, but seeing as I couldn't go downhill and Isabel couldn't go uphill it was a very funny sight to see. By the end we had mastered the art of stopping by crashing into bushes, though I never figured out how to go downhill... We then went to the best ice cream shop in the village, ate ice cream by the local castle, and still caught the train to Frankfurt, where we spent the night in order to catch our next bus to Prague!!!
