The last big trip that I had on my exchange was going to Paris with my parents! I met them at the train station in London and we took the chunnel from there to Paris (which was a bit hectic but super exciting!!!) We stayed with Dad's college roommate Jan in his sweet apartment that was right down the street from this amazing Parisian bakery and pretty park. They were pretty jet lagged that first night so we just stayed in the neighborhood and found this yummy pasta place so they could rest. The next day we hit the main tourist attractions! We went to the Eiffel Tower, ate at a cafe with a porch view of the Eiffel Tower, and saw Notre-Dame. We also happened upon a bread festival with free samples and works of art in the form of bread! The weather was lame so we spent a lot of time trying to avoid the rain, but in doing that we saw a lot of the city! Then that afternoon we wandered over to this really hip part of town so I could go thrifting! I had fun because I found some great deals, including a jean jacket for only one euro, my mom liked it because she found this awesome home decorating store, and my dad found more pastries so he was pleased.
The next day we woke up early so we could make it to the Arc De Triompe before there was a crowd. There was some construction going on but it was just as impressive as the pictures. We then walked down the Avenue de Champs-Elysees and did some shopping... just kidding, it was all really expensive. But the stores were cool and we passed by some impressive looking buildings. By this point we were hungry so we went and ate some crepes, which were the bomb! We then went to go see The Thinker at the Musee Rodin which was great! The statues were all really cool and the day was pretty. Lastly we went to the Impressionist Museum and saw some cool art.
Our last day in Paris was spent at the Palace of Verailles. It was kind of a pain to get there, but it was amazing! The Garden was huge, the palace was gold, and Marie-Antoinette's village was so cute! We spent all day there walking around, eating crepe's by the pond, and taking in the sights! Mom really liked the decorations and the pink palace. If you ever go to Paris you need to go to the Palace!
