We spent two days in Santiago, Chile before flying to Argentina! We stayed in a hostel that provided an authentic (though cheap) Chilean breakfast and was close to the metro, though their lack of air conditioning was something we missed during the heat wave that hit. Argentina has trouble with importing goods, so all the clothes that they have in the country are either expensive name brands or cheap knock-offs, so we spent the first day in the Santiago Mall so the girls could buy clothes at H&M and Forever21. They bought jeans and dresses and shirts and hairbands and running shoes and heels and purses and tank tops and books and makeup and so much more, seeing as they didn't know when they would get the chance to go to the mall again. Then the next day some of the girls went back to buy more stuff, though beforehand we all went to see the Changing of the Guards at the La Moneda Palace (it brought back memories of Buckingham Palace!!!!) and the parade and marching band that came with it. After Ine and Luli came with me to do some sightseeing. We walked around and I did some tourist shopping, we saw some of the different universities around town, walked by the Cerro Santa Lucia, and went to San Cristóbal Hill! I got a picture with a llama down by the bottom of the hill, then we had to wait in line to take the train carriage up to the top of the hill. It wasn't until we were traveling up the tracks that we realized how big the hill was! Once we made it to the top we walked around looking at the trail, the statues, and the view! We could see all of the surrounding mountains and the entire city. We went out for pizza and drinks for our last night in Chile, and the next day hopped on a plane to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
