2 weeks into England and I finally made it to Bath! Getting there was a pain (it involved an overcharging taxi driver, too many platform changes, a broken suitcase and a cold) but I finally made it to my home for the next few months, Pulteney Court! My flat is on the top floor and there is no lift, so getting my suitcase up was a struggle, but I have a wonderful view of the city and the Abbey! My flatmates are all Grad students from China, which is kind of nice because they have been able to help me with the bus system and they let me use there kitchen supplies! My room is surprisingly well sized, clean, and close to the bus stop, what more could I ask for! My first night here Andrew, one of the other UT students, and I went grocery shopping with our British friend Nancy who we met through the Buddy Program back at UT last semester. It took three stores and over two hours but we at least think we got everything that we need for now.
The next day we had orientation, meaning we had to figure out the bus system by 8:30AM in the rain to make it up to campus in time. It gave us a crash course in the Bath bus system and gave us our first view of the campus! It is a beautiful campus with friendly people who loved showing us around! We got our library cards, met tons of other exchange students, and got a crash course in how the School of Management works. The other Texas guys and I also got a chance to see the city the next day! We watched the Bath Rugby match at a pub, saw the Roman baths, got lost wandering the city for a bit, and got a first-hand experience of the windy/cold/wet weather here in England. All in all it was a good start to Bath!
