Another Camp Reunion in England!!!!! Isabel and I traveled to Leeds to visit some of our friends from Summer '12 and it was a blast! We stayed with Alex and Hailey and their friends and got a really insightful look into Saturday Football and Horse Racing (in case you were wondering, it is an all day event) and then went out with everybody to see some of the city! The next day Isabel and I decided to thank them for the English experience by giving them a taste of the American experience... with American pancakes. It was an adventure trying to find the ingredients 10 AM on a Sunday (apparently the English don't start their Sunday until noon) and we ended up at an Islamic grocery store, but have no fear we found all of the ingredients, minus real maple syrup, and ended up making enough pancakes for 8 people! We then took a taxi to Tom's place where his Mom made us an English Roast! I know I am a vegetarian and thus don't get the full Sunday Roast experience, but the veggies were awesome, I drank enough tea to last me a year (or at least a week now that I am practically British), and had a wonderful British desert that of course I can't remember the name of now. We then walked around an awesome park in Leeds and saw some lakes, swans, and castles (in that order). Leeds was lovely and it was nice catching up with some mates!
I also got to do some of the touristy stuff of Bath. One of my Australian friends (Chloe) made some of us a typical Aussie meal, including Anzac cookies, for our weekly Tuesday night dinner (in case you are keeping tabs, these are the girls Chloe, Sammi, Jessalyn, and Mohena that I also ate pancakes with on pancake day!!!!!!!!!!), went to a cool new cafe/bar called the Cosy Cafe for one of my Bath Buddies Danny's birthdays (my Bath Buddies are the Bath students who were in Texas last semester), and went out to this really cool restaurant called Jamie's Itallian to celebrate them finishing their FYP project. I also went to the local castle called Sham Castle up near Uni! Calling it a castle is a bit of an overstatement, seeing as it is mainly just a wall, but it was fun to explore (seeing as I have been listing off names I thought I would list off their names too: Kyle, Ine, Graham, Andrew and Eric). Lastly I also got to go back to Prior Park with my friend Rachel and her friend from back home Katie. It was a sunny day and a fun hike, seeing that right before we found a cheap buffet with naan and desert!
Bath is still amazing, and as you can tell there is a lot to do!!!!!!!!!!
